US Still Shows Interest in Online Casino Industry
17 Aug 2006
It may seem like the US is strictly against the online casino industry, but perhaps there is something more than meets the eye. Congressman Jon Porter of Nevada has recently announced that he plans on traveling to the Isle of Man to visit several self-regulated online casino operators and see if they can work alongside the US to help legalize the online casino industry.
This may seem like a long shot, however, if the House of Representatives fail to pass the bill, US online casino players may be able to legally gamble online. Although Porter is fighting for the legalization of online casino gambling, he realizes that making his way to the Isle of Man is useless unless the House of Reps denies the bill. Considering the recent arrest of an online casino head and the banning of US players from several online casino sites, it is probable that the House will make their decision in the near future.
Prior to the arrest, which was done when the former online casino executive was passing through the US, online casinos would have never considered banning American players, who make up a large percentage of online casino customers. However, it seems that now online casinos are rebelling against the US by going through their online casino fans, instead of the government which passes the laws. Hopefully the House will veto this bill and allow Porter to attempt to make amends with this growing industry.
