23 Aug 2006
Paddy Power Poker, a leading gambling poker site on the Internet, has recently released the details of its Irish Poker Open 2007, Ireland's largest poker tournament and Europe's most historic. The gambling site has doubled the guaranteed prize to 2 million Euros, making it Europe's largest tourney in both number of players and in the amount of money on offer in the prize pool.
With 800 players being split into groups of up to 400 for two 'day one's', this is definitely going to be a massive gambling gala with top poker players from all over the world trying their luck at taking home the major prize. The buy in is 3,300 Euros with a 200 Euro registration fee. The event will take place in Dublin over Easter Weekend 2007 and to celebrate the launch, the gambling poker site is holding a freeroll at 9pm (BST) on Thursday, August 24th, 2006. Gambling players can qualify online every week at the site from August 27th, 2006, with two daily poker feeders to a weekly grand final table.
In last year's Irish Open, 339 gambling players went head-to-head for a guaranteed prize pool of 1 million Euros including some of the world's leading professionals such as Per Hilderbrand, Mel Judah, Padraig Parkinson, and Roy 'the Boy' Brindley. But it was the winner, Vincent Melinn, who walked home with all the glory. He picked up the 350,000 Euro first prize on a final table broadcast live across Europe on Sky Sports. Now that's gambling action at its finest.
